    Before You Do Anything!!
    Each prospective applicant must speak with the Alliance's director before beginning the application process. Please call 301-986-5959 or email dminess@sgalliance.org.

    Acceptable Applications
    The Alliance only accepts project proposals that are currently, or will soon be, under jurisdictional review. It will not accept any application for a project that has completed the entitlement process or has broken ground.

    Application Instructions
    Applications for Alliance recognition must demonstrate clearly the reasons why the project qualifies as an outstanding example of smart growth in the region. The application form is the criteria, and all applicants should answer the questions within the criteria.

    Application Materials
    Each application is limited to 20 pages of text (not including summary cover sheet and images) that are bound and that fit an 8.5" x 11" format. Printed brochures may be submitted as attachments. Oversized drawings may be submitted as single copies. In addition, applicants must submit 15 copies of the application.

    Application Fee

    A fee of $1500 must accompany each application. Make check out to “Washington Smart Growth Alliance". (Please not that checks are no longer made out to “Urban Land Institute).
